What versions of Word are you looking to support? Last time I looked at POI, it only supported up to Word 2003 binary - not either of the XML formats (WordML, docx).
Somebody here where I worked created a survey with a word template and then sent it to all the employees. Now they want to insert all the answers into a database and put it online. I can't save them ...
