After a series of route cuts throughout the end of 2025, Avelo Airlines just confirmed that it will exit an additional three airports permanently: Phoenix Mesa Gateway (AZA), Raleigh-Durham (RDU), and Wilmington (ILM).
The airline announced Tuesday that only four of its current 15 nonstop routes would continue at ILM. Airport staff said Avelo made the decision after seeing a major reduction in its aircraft fleet.
As part of the restructuring, Avelo will narrow its operational focus around four bases, including Wilmington Airport near New Castle, Tweed New Haven Airport in Connecticut, Concord-Padgett Regional Airport in North Carolina, and Lakeland Linder International Airport in Florida. The airline also will open a base in McKinney, Texas, in late 2026.
