Yankees Claim Former Red Sox Reliever Off Waivers From Fellow AL Team
Former Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Kaleb Ort is joining the New York Yankees. The Bronx Bombers claimed the 33-year-old right-hander off waivers from the Houston Astros on Friday. The news was first reported by 7News Boston’s Ari Alexander.
Both are righthanded hitters with the ability to pull the ball in the air, which plays well at Fenway. Bregman is more adept at putting the ball in play, with a career strikeout rate of 13.4 percent, considerably better than Bichette’s 19.4 percent figure which remains below league average.
